Blue Valley Road cuts through a quiet stretch of the Nantahala National Forest west of Highlands, with a handful of pull-off sites and informal clearings scattered along the route. The valley is less trafficked than areas closer to the Appalachian Trail, which means you're more likely to have a site to yourself. Access is a mix of paved and gravel — most spots work for a passenger car, though a few deeper pull-offs benefit from clearance. No facilities, no fee, no cell service.

Camper Notes

If the Nantahala campgrounds are booked and you just need a free spot to pitch a tent for the night, Blue Valley is one of the quieter options in the area — less visited than the spots near Standing Indian, with year-round access.
